It is very useful to have a Hide/Show command assigned directly to a button on your keyboard.
To assign any command to a button or a combination of buttons (in this example Hide/Show command to a Space button) go to Tools®Customize..., in Customize window go to tab Commands. On the left you have to choose a category where the command belongs, if you are not sure what category is it, scroll down and select All Commands. On the right select the command, click on Show Properties...[1] then choose your accelerator button [2]. Example of a Hide/Show command assigned to a Sprace button (KP_Space) is shown on Fig.1.
